Privacy policy

Last updated 27 September 2026.

This page explains what AC Market stores about you, who can see it, and how to ask for a copy of it or for it to be deleted.

What we collect

When you create an account we store your name, email address, phone number and Canadian address, together with the approximate coordinates and the precision we derive from that address. As you use the marketplace we store your listings, bids, reservations, orders, transactions, notifications, and the security records that protect your account.

What is public

Anyone can see a listing's title, description, photos, price and condition label, the seller's store name, the city and province the seller is in, seller ratings, and the amounts bid on an item. Bid amounts are public; the identity of a bidder never is.

What is never public

Your email address, phone number, street address, postal code and coordinates are never published. A listing shows a city and a province, not a place you could drive to.

Who sees an order

The seller of an item sees the name, phone number and delivery address of their own customer, because that is what it takes to hand the item over. A seller never sees a customer's email address: contact happens through the platform. You see your own orders, and nothing belonging to anyone else.

Moderation and administration

Moderators see the listings, reports and disputes they are reviewing, and a masked email address rather than a full one. Administrators can read platform records β€” including profile data, orders and transaction records β€” in order to moderate the marketplace, approve sellers and resolve disputes. That access is deliberate: it is what makes seller approval and dispute handling possible. It is also bounded: an administrator cannot sign in as you, cannot read your sign-in credentials, and cannot act without leaving an audit record. Card numbers, security codes, expiry dates and banking details do not exist anywhere in our database.

Payment details

Checkout in this version is a placeholder and takes no payment, so no payment details are collected at all. When real payments are introduced they will be handled by the payment provider, and only the provider's reference will be stored here.

Email

We email you to verify your address, to let you sign in, to protect your account, and to tell you about bids, holds and orders. Mail is sent from our own mail server; we do not use a third-party email marketing service and we do not send marketing email.

Cookies

We set the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to remember the language you have chosen. There are no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics on this site.

How your account is protected

AC Market has no passwords, so there is no password here to be stolen or reused elsewhere. Sessions are held in cookies that scripts on the page cannot read, access tokens are short-lived, and every sign-in is confirmed by a second factor.

Exporting or deleting your data

You can ask for a copy of your data, or for your account to be deleted, from the privacy request section of your profile. A request is reviewed before it is carried out, so a deletion is never automatic, and you are told when it is complete. When a deletion is completed your personal details are anonymised: your email address becomes a non-routable placeholder and your name, phone number and address are removed. Orders, transactions and dispute records are kept against the anonymised identifier, because a final sale and the platform's financial records have to remain verifiable. The exact retention period for those records is still being finalised with legal advice, and nothing is deleted before that answer exists.

Your choices

You can correct your name, phone number, address and language preference at any time from your profile. Copy and deletion requests follow the path described above.
